That was my thought about the question posed by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation in their survey.
The survey was in honor of this being the 25th Anniversary of the NMSF.
They presented this list of six items and asked which was most important.
"historic shipwrecks and cultural heritage sites
diverse marine wildlife
healthy underwater habitats and coral reefs
recreation (i.e., surfing, kayaking, fishing)
conservation of natural resources
marine science research"

I was to only choose one, then write why I chose it.
Instead, I sent the following message.
"Without healthy underwater environments, there is no marine wildlife, there are no sports and recreation opportunities on waterways, and there would be no marine research with its benefits toward life on land."
I'll be curious if I get a response, other than the proffered sticker.
Meanwhile, I have done my part by emphasizing that no one thing exists apart from the others, as all are part and parcel of each other.
